The Brownsville Chamber of Commerce is a “member-driven”
organization that includes a number of committees and task
forces. As the principal advocate of the local business
community, the Chamber’s mission is to lead public and
private interests in Brownsville to develop a climate in
which business can create jobs and operate at a profit.
Local, state and federal issues come to the attention of the
committees through the committee chairmen. In addition, to
those resources, individual members, citizens, and elected
officials themselves bring issues to the Chamber’s
attention.
The Chamber draws upon those members who possess the
necessary expertise to evaluate issues and report to the
particular committee which then develops a recommendation
for the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
Once the Board of Directors decides their position they
begin to take action via the Governmental Affairs Committee.
