Government affects business and the community in many ways, through taxation, regulation, infrastructure development, and policy direction; all issues of fairness and equity.

  GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS
Government is one of the biggest influences on business, and a positive business climate can be the difference between profit and loss, success and failure. Business pays attention to government, but too often not enough attention, given the impact it has on the bottom line.

One of the roles of the Brownsville Chamber is to bring focus to those issues that can have a positive influence on business and the community, and to those issues that can be costly and unfriendly to business and the community.

The Governmental Affairs Committee is the communication program between business and government that identifies priorities of business as well as community issues. The committee provides education and advocacy on the priorities of the membership to the proper government body.
